| Trip Description: TROPICAL DESERT The crystal clear water and stunning undersea life around the island of Espiritu Santos defines Baja's crown jewel in the Sea of Cortez. Kayaking along it's dazzling white beaches and pink cliffs provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy one of Mexico's most spectacular National Parks. We'll be snorkeling with sea lions and tropical fish in 84º water, enjoying fresh ceviche and cervesa, and camping on white sandy beaches under brilliant starry skies. Plus we'll get to soak up the laid- back yet authentic Mexican culture of La Paz, Baja's coolest colonial city. Reserve Your Spot: Trip cost is $900. A deposit of $400 is required to reserve a spot. After September 15, full payment is required. Full payment due by October 1. Where We’re Going: The island of Espiritu Santos is a few miles off the coast of southern Baja in the Sea of Cortez. A boat will take us from La Paz and drop us off on the north side of the island. For the next three days we'll kayak along the west side, camping at a new beach each night. A boat will take us back to La Paz on the fourth day, giving us time to enjoy the city before heading back to the airport the next day. What To Bring: Sleeping bag, swimsuit, towel & snorkel gear. If you don't have snorkel gear you can rent it there for $20. Tennis shoes will needed for short hikes on the island. You'll need to be prepared for spending all day on the water and under the sun, which means sunglasses, hat and lots of sunscreen. And of course you won't want to forget your camera. What We’re Providing: Transportation to/from Cabo Airport, lodging in La Paz, all food and drink while on the island, National Park fees, wilderness medicine trained guide, bilingual naturalist kayak guides, wet bags for gear, group dinner on our last night in La Paz and a great group of fun- seeking adventurers. Transportation: La Paz is a three hour drive from the airport in Cabo. You can fly directly to La Paz, however the flight is usually more expensive. You'll want to arrive at the airport in Cabo on the 20th no later than 3 pm and schedule your flight home for anytime on the 25th. Trip Preparedness: Participants will be carrying their own gear in their kayaks several miles per day and need to be in good physical condition. Previous kayaking experience is not necessary but will make your trip more enjoyable. Important Information about Air Travel: Contact us prior to purchasing your airline tickets to confirm the trip has the minimum number of participants required to operate. Who are our guides: Our guides are rigidly selected for appropriate levels of expertise in backcountry travel skills. In addition, they each hold at least Wilderness First Responder medical certifications. The local kayak guides are bilingual and have an in-depth knowledge of the flaura and fauna of the island and the Sea of Cortez. Weather: Daytime temperatures usually range between 85º - 95º F but can sometime climb even higher. Evening temperatures drop into the 60s - 70s.
