
Grand Canyon National Park NORTH RIM is located 30 miles south of Jacob Lake on Highway 67; the canyon
rim is an additional 14 miles south. Jacob Lake is located in northern Arizona on Highway 89A, not far from the
Utah border.
Grand Canyon National Park SOUTH RIM is located 60 miles north of Williams, Arizona (via route 64 from
Interstate 40) and 80 miles northwest of Flagstaff (via route 180).
Commercial Airline Transportation to the Grand Canyon Area
The closest main airport to the South Rim is Flagstaff, located about 80 miles southeast of the park. The closest
main airport to the North Rim is Las Vegas. Other airports are Phoenix and the Grand Canyon Airport in
Tusayan, just south of the park.
Public Transportation to the Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon Airport / Tusayan Shuttle
CASSI Tours (a park permittee) currently operates a shuttle service between Tusayan and the South Rim from
May through October for a fee. Call: 928-638-0821. The shuttle leaves Grand Canyon Airport every hour on the
half-hour and makes stops in Tusayan and at several locations on the South Rim. Check for updated shuttle
schedules at Grand Canyon Airport and the Backcountry Information Center.
Bus Services
• Bus service between Grand Canyon Village (South Rim) and Flagstaff, Arizona is offered by Nava-Hopi
Tours (a park permittee). Call: 800-892-8687, or inquire at lodge transportation desks for schedules.
• Greyhound offers service from Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona to points nationwide.
• Shuttle service between Phoenix and Flagstaff, and between Flagstaff and Grand Canyon Village is
offered by Open Road Tours (800-766-7117), call for prices and schedules.
Train Services
• Amtrak provides rail service to Flagstaff with connecting bus service to the canyon.
• Grand Canyon Railway offers train service from Williams (for additional information call: 1-800-THE-
TRAIN). The Railroad Express offers bus service for people who only want a one way trip on the vintage train.
To ride on the train one way in the morning from Williams, contact any lodge transportation desk within the park.
To ride on the train one way in the afternoon, contact Grand Canyon Railway at: 800-843-8724. Check in at the
Williams Station at 9:00 am. The train arrives at the South Rim (Canyon Village) at 12:15 pm. It leaves the South
Rim at 3:15 pm and arrives back at Williams at 5:45 pm. You have three hours to visit the Canyon Village area of
the park.
Rim to Rim Shuttle
A shuttle service is provided seasonally between the North Rim and the South Rim for a fee by Trans Canyon
Shuttle (a park permittee). $ 60.00 one way; $ 100.00 round trip. Call: 928-638-2820. Reservations required.

1. To the North Rim. Take Highway 89 South to ALT 89 South to Jacob Lake, Arizona then take Stateroad 67
South to the North Rim.
2. To the South Rim. Take Highway 89 South to just past Cameron, Arizona and take Stateroad 64 West to the
Park.
From the South
1. To the South Rim. Take I-17 North to Flagstaff, Arizona and then take Highway 89 North to just before
Cameron and take Stateroad 64 West to the Park.
2. To the North Rim. Take 1-17 North to Flagstaff, Arizona and then take Highway 89 North to ALT 89 North to
Marble Canyon, take ALT 89 to Jacob Lake, Arizona then take Stateroad 67 South to the North Rim.
From the East
1. Take I-40 West to Flagstaff, Arizona and follow the directions From the South to the South or North Rims.
2. Take Highway 160 West to Highway 89 and for the North Rim, go North on 89 to ALT 89 North to Marble
Canyon, take ALT 89 to Jacob Lake, Arizona then take Stateroad 67 South to the North Rim; for the South Rim,
go South on 89 to just past Cameron, Arizona and take Stateroad 64 West to the Park.
3. Take I-10 West to I-17 North to Flagstaff, Arizona and then take Highway 89 North to just before Cameron and
take Stateroad 64 West to the Park (South Rim). For North Rim directions, follow number 2 in From the South.
From the West
1. Head for Highway 89 South and follow the directions in getting there From the North.
2. Take I-40 East to Stateroad 64 North to Highway 180 North to the Park.
3. Take I-10 East to I-17 North or I-8 East to I-10 North to I-17 North to Flagstaff, Arizona and follow the directions
for the South or North Rim in From the South.
